About the Painting
Several Circles (Einige Kreise) is a 1926 painting by Vassily Kandinsky, beautiful and harmonious with its careful mix of proportion and color. The importance of circles in many of Kandinsky’s paintings is best summed up by a quotation of his:
“The circle is the synthesis of the greatest oppositions. It combines the concentric and the eccentric in a single form and in equilibrium. Of the three primary forms, it points most clearly to the fourth dimension.”
