About the Poster
A Revolutionary Wave is Growing is a 1941 Soviet propaganda poster by Viktor Deni (Russian: Виктор Николаевич Дени), one of the most prominent agitprop artists of the Bolshevist period. The full name of the poster is "A revolutionary wave against capital, fascist terror, hunger and war is growing" (Russian: «Растет революционная волна против капитала, фашистского террора, голода и войны»).
In the poster you can see the main fascist threats on the left facing off against the socialist working man on the right. Nestled between New York-style skyscrapers you can see a capitalist businessman. In front of him stand a priest holding a cross and bedazzling with a large crown. Next to him are two Nazis: one, with the insignia, С.Д., on his hat, is a member of the Security Service of the Reichsführer SS (Sicherheitsdienst des Reichsführers SS); the other Nazi with a swastika on his helmet and gallows in his hand appears to be a policeman.
