About the Poster

This Death to Fascism! (Russian: Смерть фашизму!) Soviet Propaganda Poster was created by Vasily Vlasov (Russian: Василий Адрианович Власов) at the beginning of WWII on the Eastern Front.

In the poster you can see seven Soviet bayonets facing off against a humongous, swastika-clad ape with a Hitler moustache. The ape has left dirty footprints all over the rest of Europe (except for the UK, which is conveniently cropped out of the composition). The message of the poster is clear - only the Soviet Union is left to stand up to this terrible, fascist beast.
