About the Poster
Long Live our Dear Invincible Red Army! (Russian: Да здравствует наша родная непобедимая красная армия!) is a 1936 Soviet propaganda poster by Konstantin Vyalov (Russian: Константин Вялов).
It was common for Soviet poster artist to create optimistic themes glorifying the army in the 1930s. In this poster, a sort of of impromptu parade forms in the Russian countryside, as the locals come out to cheer on the Red Army. Up in the sky majestic airplanes and fantastic white and red parachutes soar overhead. On the ground level, soldiers with red banners march along as heavy tanks emerge racing from the clouds of dust they leave behind them. Agricultural workers, still with their tools in hand, wave at the soldiers with handkerchiefs and sprigs of wheat, standing amid sacks of grain.
