About the Poster
The full title of this beautiful Soviet poster is "The Country of Industry, the Power of Science our Working Hands" (Russian: Страну индустрии, державу науки построили наши рабочие руки). It was created by Viktor Ivanov (Russian: Виктор Иванов) in 1964.
Of note, the Russian text of this poster rhymes - that's something you don't see too often in Soviet posters. Also, in the workers hands you can see a Sputnik satellite and the image of an atom. As such, the poster speaks especially to the confidence the Soviet Union felt at this time in areas of space exploration and nuclear technology.
